It is not a user, just a conversation piece and more then anything, it was a learning exprriance for me. I picked a scrap piece of Pyrowear #53 tool steel out of the scrap bin at work and decided to learn the process of making a knife. Probably not the best steel for a knife so I did not waste the money to have it heat treated.
Blade: Pyrowear #53 tool steel
Thickness: 3/16"
Scales: rosewood
Fasteners: copper corby bolts
Blade length 3 1/8"
OAL: 7 1/16"

I kind of took ideas from several knives that I like the look of and put them all into one package.

Sorry for the cheep cell phone pic, I cannot compete with some of You guys photography skills.

Looks good! I think you are right about that steel, I don't think it will ever get hard enough to be a decent knife. It has only 0.10% C. Used mostly for gears and such.

I think you did an excellent job, though! Maybe make it a cheese or butter knife?!

commit fully next time. It's worth it.

I hear ya. I just boughs 300 lbs of d2, and have lots of plans and so little time to make it happen. Lol
Hopefully will be sharing others before long, only out of some better blade steel this time of course.

Who are going to use to do the heat treat?

I think I'm going to use peters heat treating Inc. They are in Meadville PA. Someone recommend them to me and there web site is respectable, so I think I will try them first. I wish I could find someone closer to home here in Indianapolis
though. Do you have another suggestion?

Wow, if that is your first knife I think you have a heckuva future ahead of you making blades - very nice job indeed
