Fantastic job on your first knife, I wish I had a shop to make my own too!
Keep up the nice work!

I'd round the handles a bit near the blade. Would make it look better. But nice job. Keep it up.

Keep up the nice work!

I started out with 0 tools and i bought the things i needed to make knives. To get started it really doesn't take much! Harbor freight grinder and belt sander then get er done

Ever think of slipping a nice brass guard or bolster up that blade?

I think the blade is pretty balanced but i have thought about putting a guard on a future knife. Im just making whatever is cool to me and i will eventually make a knife with one

I like it. I'd be proud to carry it. Big thumbs up  for not trying to reinvent the wheel...something new makers try to do a lot.

I think it's a pretty solid first effort in terms of making a design into an object. A few questions/considerations:
- What steel did you use? How did you heat treat the blade? Or was this more an exercise in shaping the blade and handle and fitting them together?
- When you hold the handle do you find it comfortable? Are there any areas of your hand where you can feel uneven pressure or where it digs? The handle looks quite square; a bit of well thought-out shaping in the handle will make it considerably more comfortable. It doesn't need to be anything drastic; just some rounding off will probably help.
- What do YOU think you could do to make this design better? That's a question you should always be asking yourself :)

Please don't see this as negative criticism because it's seriously not. I think you should be very happy with your first attempt :)

If you haven't already, head over to the Shop Talk forum and read the stickies and browse the other threads there. The regulars there have hundreds of years of knife making experience between them and you'll learn a lot by spending some time there.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!

I like it. Like the others have said, it's a bit square. You just motivated me to get the tools. Screw it, I'm finally gonna do it! I've wanted to start making my own for a while now, and my parents have been pestering me for something to get me for Christmas.

Thanks all! Its 1084 steel and i made a forge out of firebricks with a torch to heat treat it, I then tempered the blade at 400 for 2 hours. I know the handle looks square and it is a bit square but i think it feels decent in my hand.
