My first handmade sheath

Hey BF,

Just wanted to show some pics of my first sheath attempt and get some feedback and constructive criticism.
I really love period based sheaths that are from the 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s that have a Native American or old American west influence. I really love the sheaths that Karen makes for Daniel Winkler.
I know I could have used a deer hide or something else but this was my first attempt and wanted to see if I enjoyed it before sinking money in materials and tools. I repurposed the suede and leather.
Stitching is artificial sinew.
One problem is the belt loop is already breaking down so I will have to disassemble the sheath and re-sew or just throw it on a shelf.
Knife is the Winkler Highland Hunter in sculpted maple. Let me know your thoughts!

Good start. I use latigo saddle leather and waxed nylon thread, using a cobbler's stitch. I also treat the leather with SnowSeal inside and out.

Thank you. I really enjoyed it and see some more projects in the future. This will be more of a hobby and to make gifts for friends and family at the most. Thank you for the advice and I’m going to research what you use!
