My Super-CAK arrived in the triangular USPS Priority Mail box and I immediately noticed the weight when the post man handed it to me. I took it back to my shop and opened it up. Wow! I thought I knew what "massive" meant when talking about a knife - apparently I was wrong. I have seen short swords smaller than this.

The entire outfit weighs 3.66 pounds. The 18" Super CAK weighs a stunning 2.94 pounds by itself. The handle really feels good. I wear XL sized gloves and this handle is great given the dynamics of the knife. The way it is balanced is superb. You can tell the depth of knowledge to understand how all these things are related - the angles, weights, handle shape and so forth.

After I wiped off the oil from the steel and started carefully looking things over I quickly noticed how well the pieces are fitted together. Bear in mind that before this, the only Khukris I had seen were the junk ones. Everything shows craftsmanship. I didn't expect to like the sheath and instead was very impressed by it.

The thickest part of the spine just ahead of the handle is 0.492" thick and tapers slightly to 0.438" at the shoulder. The belly is 2.62" thick and 0.399" at the top edge as the lower spine tapers down to the point. You can tell it wants to chop - when the front gains momentum, it does not want to stop!

Here are some pictures of this great khukri from Bhakta Kami:

Now I know why guys have always said to go to Himalayan Imports if you want a real Khukri. Now, thanks to the DOTD posts, I have a new addiction. I have to get some more of these. Honestly, I am profoundly impressed and want to thank Bhakta Kami and everyone involved with this knife at BirGorkha.

Maybe it's because I have been reading all I can on the HI website and here about the kamis and what they do, but I feel like I bought more than just a knife. I have owned plenty of knives where they were cold and lifeless. This has soul to it.

Nice Review, roninsgrips!
You are very right about the soul these knives have....and each and every one has it's own personality.
People may think i'm a crazy ol' fool, but i honestly hear them talk to, and guide me. The last CAK i got absolutely told me to bring it home and that it would serve me well. When it hit my hand there was and instant bond.
When you bought your khukuri, you did gain much more than just a knife. You gained a sharp being that will be your friend and protector if you choose to listen. You also gained a whole family of like minded friends, insight to the meaning of life, karma and a host of other things. You also gained a new Aunt. We don't call Uncle Bill and Auntie Yangdu these things for nothing. We are a family here.

Welcome aboard! odds are this wont be your last HI khukuri, they are addicting

Karda,
Well said sir, and welcome to HI, tis a blessing and a curse, when the HIKV (HI Khukri Virus) sets in there's no stopping it. Kidding of course, not about the virus though. Enjoy your khuk its one mean looking blade. And im sure there will be more.

I'm pretty sure I have HIKV right now :-)

DOTD is very addicting to say the least. I have to will myself to stay away from the keyboard for a while and not order from the posting!

I have HIKV! I've bought three DOTDs on two different days. I haven't even recieved my first two when I picked up my third.

Only 3 pounds all together?? That spine is huge!!! If it were a Busse it would be called a SDFFHIK (Super-Duper-Fat- (Edited)Himalayan-Import-Khukri=)

Great review and nice pics! I agree with you-the Bhakta SCAK is a MASSIVE work of art. And stopping it once in motion is more difficult than lesser knives. Safety first and always with these elite blades!

Hi guys, fogive my ignorence what is that knotch feature for?

It is called the "cho" or "kaudi". It was thought to only be there for religious significance, but we have a member here whose done a study on them and it appears that the cho may have an important stress relieving/shock absorbing role to play. Well... that and keeping blood from sullying your handle of course.
