First post in this forum, forgive the length!

I got my first Hinderer yesterday, and now know what all the hype was about! I received my 3" spanto flipper about 5 in the afternoon, and it went in the pocket immediately after an inspection. This morning, I decided I wanted to change the scale, and ran into a problem with the pivot. I don't have the pivot tool, and went to FIVE different hardware stores today looking for a spanner tool, all in vain. So, I decided to make my own out of an old screwdriver! Not the best looking, but it works great and my new knife is proudly wearing its new blue scale.

My only problem now is deciding which Hinderer will be next, but I am thinking a nice 3.5 slicer would be a good compliment to my little flipper.

Can't go wrong with any of them! Congrats on the 3". A slicer is a great, versatile grind but for pure utility+badassness, I like a 3.5" Wharnie.

ETA: Welcome!!

Congrats on your awesome new XM. It looks great! Great job on the spanner wrench also. :)

Welcome to the Fold (addiction) as a collector in the making.... do yourself a favor and add the Armorers Tool to your Xmas list.
The Homemades (been there too) do what we need them to do namely, the part came and we are excited to get home and get it installed and then Bang! it hits us Oh crap I don't have a spanner tool. So we make one.
Then it slips and scratches our new Ti Scale or whatever.
The real deal enables you to hold the knife&tool secure in one hand while addressing the pivot screw with the other not to mention it's cool to have.
Mine hangs off my Go-Bag so I know where it is all the time.
Anyway, welcome and congrats. Whats the next one? A 3.5" Spanto Flipper (of course) :)

I am planning on getting a new set of screws eventually too, along with the actual tool because I like how it goes on a keychain. As for my next Hinderer, I have been looking at the Warncliffe a lot and I am starting to think that should be next. The slicer could be after that if my wife doesn't kill me first.........

Yes the Wharnie is a very cool grind. I carry mine when the jeans come out. As for the little lady..... we have many ways to advise and tactics to employ :)

Always ship to the Office and have a "toy fund" that doesn't put the family budget in peril and is partially funded by selling bodily fluids:eek: that way there is a pity factor insulating you from full frontal attacks. NEVER take her to a Knife Show and remember..... the 1/10th rule.
Toys only cost 1/10th of actual cost. Believe me when I tell you Her shoes are NOT buy 1 get 9 free ! and Bras are like $150.00 a piece and the Underwear Bunny doesn't bring them in the middle of the night. ( I can't believe I fell for that one )

In a pinch, with some care, you can disassemble and reassemble (thread locker substance dependent) with $0.11. A dime in the screw slot and a penny to keep the nut from spinning on the other side.

But I strongly recommend the actual tool and like Rubi...carry one flopping about on my daily grab-n-go.
