Hello Everyone (Ladies & Gentlemen)....... I bring to you today the exceptional news of me acquiring my first Hinderer(s)
. If you haven't caught on to the hint yet....... the "s" is in parentheses because my first Hinderer happened to be a pair. Yep, it was like the stars aligned and everything worked out more than I could ever imagine. I'm going to try not to y'all ears off and keep it short, even though I'm kind of a conversationalists, haha. So please bear with me
.
Well it all started last Thursday when I told myself, "today is the day I get my First Hinderer." And with me being the optimistic person that I am....... I thought I would try my luck with the social media flash sale. I believe it was for the DLC coated Eklipse, if I'm not mistaken. It wasn't my first choice, but I was getting impatient with finding a (3" or 3.5") XM-18. So I got me, myself, and F5 ready, Lol. If any of you are familiar with Hinderer's flash sale....... then you know "F5" is a must.
Everything was going as planned....... I F5 until my fingers got tired, switch hands, and F5 some more. The Ranch (Mr. Rob) and company would tease us here and there. All in good fun of course. Then someones new post in the social media group would arise in the thread between F5ing, with jokes of being "in" and ready throughout the anticipation. And before you knew it....... bam there it was. The pictures from Mr. Rob, with the instructions of the first (4) people to type "in", wins the prize (DLC coated Ekclipse).
So there I was, and the only thing standing between me and my first Hinderer....... was 3 keys (i, n, and enter). Sounds easy doesn't it?!?! Well that's not how things work with Hinderer flash sales, haha. I typed "in" then "enter" and although it may appear you're one of the first few (1, 2, 3, or 4), by the time you press refresh (yep, good ole faithful F5) again. You see exactly where you land on that list, hehe. What number was I you ask??? Number 11
. Not bad for my very first flash sale, I suppose. It could of been worst, I could of been number 5 (ouch, that hurts just saying it). I don't know about y'all, but I rather lose by a lot than by 1!
So after licking my wounds, and squandering off like a dog with it's tail between it legs. I picked myself up, dusted off, and threw it back in drive (that being myself). When I put mind to something (like acquiring a new knife), it can be very hard to shake. Especially, with me trying for the last week (maybe two) or so....... since being bitten by the Hinderer bug. And me lurking throughout the Hinderer forum, reading you guys/gals (Hinderer Herd) post....... it didn't make things much better. As a matter of fact, it kind of fueled the flame, Lol.
Now to the good part....... my first Hinderer of the day. Speaking of....... I forgot to mention. Both Hinderers were purchased on the same day, merely hours a part. And my first Hinderer was purchased 5-10 minutes after losing the flash sale. Not bad, huh
....... it was like it was meant to be (stars aligned). I'm telling you, haha. It's funny too, because the headline of the first for sale thread went something like, "Missed the Hinderer Flash Sale? Name wasn't called for the Emerson lottery?" Lol, It felt like one of those 3 or 4 o'clock A.M. infomercials, and the guy was talking to me
. And I said to myself, "why yes I did, miss (or in my case lose) a Hinderer flash sale. So to make a long story, shorter
. We worked out a deal and my first Hinderer was purchased. A Dark Green Hinderer XM-18 (3) inch.
As y'all may know or have felt with the purchase of your first Hinderer headed your way....... I was ecstatic with joy, and on cloud nine. Then next thing you know....... I came across a For Trade thread of a beautiful Orange Hinderer XM-18 (3.5). The guy (or should I say buddy/friend), since we're both on each others friend list now....... was looking to trade for Emersons. Which I obliged, and graciously came up with a partial trade of that (Emerson) plus cash. It actually was "way" more details, and much harder than just, "Hey, I got some Emersons. Want to trade?) But in hopes of treating you guys/gals who've read this far (and haven't fallen asleep yet, haha). I'm going to end my short (yes, it's a longer version) story now and get to what everyones been waiting for. Pictures!!!
(P.S.) I bought the scales, a few days before I got the knives (or knew I would have the knives, I should say)
. Which I think kind of pushed me over the edge, haha. I felt like I "had" to get the knives, since I bought the scales. And there wasn't no turning back. Then I bought the tools, to spoil the Hinderers. I wanted them to know they were in good hands and coming to a great home
. Also the gentlemen I purchased/traded with, included goodies with the sales. Man I loved the knife community!!! It's some of the best group of people you can ever hope to meet.
