I've only been collecting knives a couple months now, and just purchased my first Hinderer. It's a 3.5" XM-18 spanto. The first line of business is to find and purchase a smooth CF scale. It seems as though these are hard to come by. Is there a source for these?

Second, I want blue standoffs and polished the factory screws. What's the best source for Ti hardware?

Lastly, does Hinderer offer a tune-up service, similar to a spa treatment from CRK?

Thanks for taking time to help a Hinderer newbie.

Welcome bro. Go to the Hinderer web site and check out the Hinderer dealers. Or, you may find what you are looking for on the Hinderer site itself. Either way, that is the place to start your search. Its not likely you will find everything you want at the same place, so be prepared to"search". You will find that to be a big part of owning and pimping a Hinderer. Good luck.

We discuss Genuine RHK accessories on the RHK forum.

Congratulations on your first XM.......you picked a great one......
Yes, RHK offers a "Spa Service"........the information is in the "Stickies" up top........if you want to send your XM in, you just need to contact Rob Orlando to book at time.......they do spa services as time permits and they work very hard to get your XM back to you as quickly as possible......

As for searching for accessories and hardware, Rebel4ever is correct......start on the RHK website and see what they have in stock and then start looking through the dealer list.......the best dealers for accessories & hardware in the past have been Monkey Edge, GP Knives and Howes......but RHK has added about a dozen dealers over the last year and a few of them often have accessories in stock........but unless you are really lucky you may have to visit a couple different places to get everything you want........

CF scales are hard to find.......Howes just had a few textured CF scales in stock last week......not sure if they are still there.......and I can't remember the last time smooth CF scales were available anywhere......you might have to go to the Exchange for those but they pop up on a fairly regular basis......

Enjoy your XM......and enjoy the hunt for all the hardware and accessories.......it's a lot of fun......and incredibly satisfying when you finally find everything you want and get your XM looking exactly the way you like it........

I've made a lot of progress on this knife since I started this thread.

This is a custom project in the making. I bought this as a user knife, but it still had some surprises when it arrived.

Here's how I received the knife. One clip screw was broken off, which I knew about. The pocket had been filled with JBWeld to hold a skull on it. The ZT clip was bent up. I was able to remove the broken screw and clean up the JBWeld.

Here's the blade with significant damage from careless sharpening.

I started by polishing most of the original hardware on my lathe. I replaced the standoffs and lock bar limiter with blue anodized Ti pieces from Hinderer. The clip filler tab and scale backing plate were already heat anodized when I got it. I put a 320-grit brushed finish on the Ti side of the knife. I replaced the bent up ZT clip that came on it with a new Ti deep carry clip. I put a bevel on the bottom side of the clip to make it easier to slide over a pocket seam. I also installed a deep carry Ti clip. . It will be some time yet before I get the scale, but had to share my project. Hope you like it.

Consult the RHK website for a complete list of Authorized Dealers as well as the RHK site itself for available products and services.
