I started with a 5mm alloy piece and after the miling machine job it's look like a 110 frame ...

Keep us posted.

Are you using the older version of the 486 (long "clip") or the newer version (short "clip")?

I'm waiting on one of the new ones and anxious to see how the new blade shape feels in hand. On paper it looks great. I found the older version to narrow for my tastes/uses.

I'll be interested to see your progress also.
What kind of covers are you thinking about?

I had a friend sent me basically what you have there to try my hand at making one.
I believe he milled it out of titanium.
It will hopefully be one of my winter projects this year, but it would be great to hear about how you go about building yours. :)

Cool stuff....I'm always envious of people that have the skills and patience for this. It's always also pretty nice to watch a build in progress. I think it's interesting to see all the actual steps that go into making a knife.

it's almost finish , so : I use a new 486 blade (2014 stamp) that looks good , and here in France the 486 is the cheapest knife to take of a blade for fit on a 110 frame .
I took a 110 spring holder , pump , spring from a broken blade std 110 no one here wanted to take it in warranty to change the 110 blade so it's why I decided to buy the 486 and make myself a new knife with alloy frame , tube rivets, the middle scale is a piece of wood from the 110 wich was a 1991 one and two piece of black g10 near the bolsters ..
hope you will like it .
