This is my first real knife that I've made. The steel is o1 and the handle material is homemade micarta. The handle pins are made from a 3 foot 1/8 brass pin. I peined the pins so everything you see there I did. I am pretty proud for my first build, obviously there are several imperfections but i am very happy with it. I would love to hear any tips or recommendations that anybody has, just keep it respectful.

I am glad to read that your knife performed how you had hoped. For a first it's pretty good. There are a few areas you could improve, can you see anything you would do differently on the next one? There are some very nice guys that are experienced and talented that willing offer help and advice in the shop talk forum. That's a valuable resource for a new maker. I hope you continue to make knives and enjoy this great hobby. Perhaps we will see more of your work as time goes by.

Thank you, yes there are definitely a few things I would fix : bevels look like crap, tang isn't flush with micarta (being that the epoxy filled in some of the crevices), plus a couple other imperfections. I am currently working on two knives right now so I will post them up on here and see what people think when I am done. thank you for the feedback.

Thank you for the feedback, off the top of my head the two things that stick out to me is that the bevels look pretty bad, and in some places epoxy has filled in areas where the handle should be flush with the tang. That's about all I could notice, thank you for taking the time to look at my first knife. This is definitely a hobby that I think is going to stick for a long time, I am currently working on two knives so I will post them when I finish.

that is better than my first one.
on the next, get the bevels smooth with hand finishing after grinding. It sucks, but it is always worth it when you have finished. Also, make the spine of the knife even with the side of the handle as you transition from ricasso to handle. If that makes sense. Just my comments. You make a very good knife. Welcome to the club. keep sharing them with us.
