Hi folks.
I`m new to this forum but I do enjoy it. I recently got into knives because I was looking for a camping knife and ended up buying way more then I should have. I`m probably not done spending yet and have a few other knives in mind.

Anyway I`ve been watching a lot of knife reviews on youtube and ended up buying the Spyderco Pacific Salt, Benchmade Griptillian and the SOG Aegis along with a Leatherman Multitool. I figured since I didn`t know what I`ll like and what steel I`ll try a bunch and then figure out what I like. By the way my camping knife is a Fallkniven A1 and I love it. Will get the F1 as well.

So the other day I am playing with my new to me knives, opening and closing them. Practicing one had opening and closing which was a bit difficult on the SOG. I was playing with it trying to close it with one hand when the spring forced open the knife and it fell out of my hand. Because the blade is heavier then the grip it landed with the pointy edge right into my foot. The damn thing is so sharp that at first I didn`t even notice or feel anything. I looked down checking out what happened which is when I saw blood gushing out of my foot. I quickly grabbed some tissues and put some pressure on my foot and raised my leg. After a while I managed to stop the bleeding a bit.
It did take quite a bit of chunk out of my leg. It wasn`t a wide cut but it went very deep.
And here I was reading how some people cut themselves and was thinking how clumsy one has to be to cut themselves only to end up being stabbed myself.
Well next time I`ll be more careful and not as clumsy. :)

Be careful man! I've yet to drop a knife on my foot, but I have cut myself a few times. And when it happens they are usually deep but clean, and heal quickly. Have not had to get stitches yet.

Knock-on-wood.

I would have gotten stitches but because I went to the doctor the next day I was told I am too late for stitches because there would be a greater chance for an infection. So now I just have to wait till it heals slowly.

Man... you should have put some butterfly closures on there rather then that band aid. I had a huge gash between the webbing of my thumb and finger (Not from knife, but rather hand slipping and getting pinched between a mallot, splitting the skin right in half and deep..) anyways, the butterfly closures did a might fine job of sealing the wound shut. With a deep slice like that skip the normal band aids.

You have now been baptized and are in the Brotherhood of Blood! Also, welcome to BF!!:D;)

You need to keep that clean. That's actually a pretty nasty looking puncture. Keep an eye out for infection.

The knives that have bitten me are the ones I like the most :) Maybe it will be the same for you.

My first post here. Greetings to all

It's a good idea to be covered with an anti tetanus shot . You repeat it after a wild. It's also useful for other accidents . Recently a cat scratched my arm. Luckily my wife is a doctor and she did the injection. Great move for a knife lover to marry a doctor. Stitches are ready at all times:)

My both thumps have still the marks of practicing with balisong knives while in high school.

I think a good idea is to work gloves during sharpening and other maintenance work i have seen some nasty wounds.

welcome to blade forums --lucky you did'nt hit the tendon.these newer blades come with some wicked bevels & edges. since i'm handling knives everyday it's lucky if i make it 3 weeks. i have several knives each day that i'm sharpening or photoing. cut my self last week on a big ferhman.
