My first INFI

Yesterday a package came in the mail containing my first Busse -- a Sarsquatch / Combat Grade.

I purchased it from Paddling_Man who is a class act by the way in this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=722511

My initial observations are that this knife is literally the knife I've been designing in my head for years. The large grip and choil are perfect for gloved use -- this is key for me and I've been disappointed by MANY knives for having grips that are too small.

The fit and finish are perfect. It balances well. The swedge feature is really cool -- thin enough to aid in penetration but not to thin that it will chew up a baton. What I find really interesting is compared to other knives I own in the 3/16" thickness variety the blade on the Sarsquatch seems much stiffer -- something having to do with the INFI I suspect.

Overall I am extremely pleased. This blade will go off to Dan at Semper Paratus Tactical for pants shortly and accompany me on my next trip to the sandbox.

Thank you Jerry and Crew for producing such an outstanding product.

Congrats Bro., I get mine in about a week and looking forward to using it too.
Stay safe
Cheers

Congrats on the Squatch! Definitely one of my favorite designs, especially the handle.

being your first busse, that's a good one. post some pic's after it get's some pant's.

Great knife I'm wanting to get a Sarsquatch too. Pretty neat blade design Imho. Take care and be safe Brother.

The stiffness of the 'squatch's blade that you refer to is due to a combination of the width, nearly 2", and the convex main grind which leaves more steel than a flat grind and yet gives a narrower and sharper angle at the blade edge side than a saber grind. It is my favorite main grind style from Busse or (any other maker) but is more difficult to mfr. than the flat or saber and, from Busse, is only available on a few models: The Satin Jack TAC; the SARs 4, 5, 8 & 'Squatch; the NMSFNO,; the FSH; and the BWM. If I've left any out, please correct me, oh ancient hogs with all wisdom, Busse-wise.

Add the Skinny ASH to that pile.

Oh no, another one enters the abiss. It won't be your last one Bro, and I promise that you will love it. Have fun and post using pics any time. Oh, and WELCOME to the madness!!!

Congrats on your first score! I got my first busse too several weeks ago and I'm pretty sure it won't be my last.

Thank you all for the well wishes!

Once I get my sheath from Semper Paratus Tactical I'll post some pics in this thread.

I am planning on taking the Sarsqautch and my SOD out for a chop-off next month. I'll post pics of that too.

Congrats and welcome to the fold.

INFI is pretty darn good, but not magical. As Pete said above, it is the geometry, not the steel, that gives it the stiffness.
