I placed an order with John for my first JK knife ! It's the LOBO w/ Maroon micarta handles w/ brass pins :) I'm soooo excited & can't wait for this knife...I keep telling myself (& my wife) that this is going to be my "Last" knife for a long time :o & I wanted something nice & something that I could depend on to last me a Long time & be tough as nails to boot
Also this is a gift from my wife for our Anniversary (12yrs married - 14yrs togather).
Thanks John !

Can't wait to see it buddy, great choice !!!!

Your catchin me up on the anniversary front, I'm at 17 years now so you still have a little ways to go, LOL !!!!

Good stuff, coaldigger. I enjoyed reading your "I'm looking for a knife" thread in W&SS, and I'm glad that the outcome was a JK custom. John makes excellent knives. I look forward to hearing about your Lobo in use.

As regards the "last knife for a while" sentiment, I made that same commitment at the start of the summer. Since then, I have purchased an awesome JK Hudson's Bay and I have a fire kit on order. I'm convinced that it will be my last purchase for a while ...

All the best,

- Mike

All I will say is that I was quite flattered that coaldigger chose me to make his knife after reading all the suggestions on what he should buy. He won`t be dissapointed in his choice.

All I can say is I think he made the right choice. If for any reason, any at all, he is disapointed, I know where he can send it to be rid of it.:D

He will love it. I just got mine today and it is awesome. My last knife is an ewok next month. I will be done at that point! To finish with a JK is a great way to end. Congrats coaldigger!!

I recently ordered a JK knife as well. I'm getting a Kephart with 3/16" steel, aluminum pins, black liners, and curly maple handles. Needless to say, I can't wait till Nov.

I recently ordered my first knife from JK as well and cant wait to get it.

As for the last knife thing, I said that when I got my CRK shadow IV a while back. Then I ordered the fire kit and about to order another CRK. Then Im going to order yet another knife from JK. This forum is gonna be the end of all our wallets. :(

You won't be disappointed with the Lobo, Coaldigger. The size, geometry, and handle shape make it a unique and comfortable knife. It's just big enough to be an effective chopper, yet not so big that it would turn you off from carrying it all the time. The thumb ramp helps when you need to do some detail work.

I really love this knife.
