Before I start I would like to thank Yangdu for this amazing Khukri that she helped me with and the great pins she sent with it!

I recieved my Chiruwa Ang Khola today, with a t-shirt and some pins. I ripped it out of the package today when I was in the car, and I fell in love.
I talked to Yangdu and she told that it was made by Sher kami, i'm glad my first intuition was correct. Thanks Yangdu!
Here are some pics

I am not sure who made it, but I think it is Kami Sher Bahadur Bishwakarma (pre 2002...im not positive though).

I'm a little confused here.

Not sure why Yangdu would have a 6 year old Ang Khola lying around. It seems to me as the # 1 best seller that it would not be very likely.

In my limited research into Devangari Script the lettering on your khuk appears to spell the initials l b (lower case) or phonetically in this script "la" and "ba"......but that clearly is not Bura's Kami mark. IIRC, we havent seen a full sun mark in quite some time.

My suggestion would be to ask Yangdu herself, as she reads Devangari and knows the Kami marks better than anybody.

At any rate, she picked you out a very nice CAK, a top of the line tough chopper of a khukuri. CONGRATULATIONS!!! (You have now been infected with HIKV, a virus for which there is no cure) Symptoms may include but are not limited to: Sweaty palms and racing heartbeat at the sign or mention of a DOTD or a very nice Khukuri, Dreams of Khuks and related items, Incessant web searching or "research on khukuri", Shriveled wallet and/or credit. Eating Campbells soup, ramen, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in order to "save up" for your next Khuk purchase. Living in a cardboard box surrounded by varoius H.I product. Sleeping in an H.I. t-shirt.

Bit confused myself....hence well...the confusion :P

The 15" AK I got last month also had Sher's pre-2002 sign. Just thought I'd add to the confusion.

The AK is one of my favorite models, i have a few and they are good choppers in a nice package. Took me a bit to get the hang of chopping "correctly" with them, but they make the chips fly when you do it right.

Did it look the same as the Kami Mark on mine?

Sadly, I cannot feed my khuk for the moment..I live in an urbanized area at the current time and my neighbors dont take kindly to me chopping down the trees in their front yards

I have been saving up and drooling over HK khuks for 2 years now, I kept trying to find a DOTD that called to me a fit into my price range, but I decided to get a CAK..as far as the research goes, what do you think I have been doing for the past 3 months. I had HIKV before I even had a HI Khukri.

ok, I just got this sorted out with Yangdu...it IS a blade made by Sher kami before 2002. I am actually kind of surprised that this blade has been around for that long, I am also impressed by its construction. This is a VERY well made blade

IMHO, for use as a chopper, a highly polished convex bevel is a good way to go. You lose a fair bit of slicing performance due to the lack of micro-serrations, but edge performance and durability for chopping and push-cutting is superlative.

Could even do a combo edge, highly polished at the chopping sweet spot, more rough elsewhere.

Anyhow, have fun with that CAK! The HIKV retrovirus integration into your DNA is likely completed. ;)

Aye, the same exact kami mark, however, with a slightly different first (leftmost) initial in the kami signature.

I'm glad you asked her and sorted it out!
I'm no longer confused......But surprised!
I told you my grasp of Devangari was Limited at best.

Now i'm wondering what Vintage Goodies she has stashed away in the Shack.

Probably just the way the lettering was engraved, if it has the same Kami mark it is also a pre 2002 Sher model.

You both are lucky stiffs.....LOL!

No "UB" mark...

a fine khuk. Minimal cho creep.

Wear it out, then go buy another. :p

Mine actually has an U.B. mark as well as the pre-2002 Sher Kami mark. Don't ask; I don't know.

Possibly "old stock" that has been in Nepal all this time and held for retail sale and marked with UB at some point after his passing, That would be my guess.
At any rate a fine piece worthy of any collection and a great find.
