I think the bug has bitten me. I just ordered my first khukuri, the Ang Khola 15".

I am anxiously waiting for it to arrive. It will make this winter much brighter, let me tell you.

I have a feeling that this will not be the last one I buy either. Figures, just as soon as I get a serious girlfriend, I find this site and HI. Oh well. I guess I will just get her some toys too.

To top it off, I ordered from Bill himself. Very cool.

I'll let you know my first impressions soon.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I've been reading the posts and the archives. Lots of good stuff. I hope that I can start to contribute soon too.

I found this site, and HI... nothing else :(
Maybe it's a combination of the lack of charm, wit and dashing good looks.

Anyways, welcome to what some call the Cantina. :)

I'll send a couple of Sherpa girls up your way, Bruise.

Me too!! Oh, wait, I'm married;) :D

Welcome Wesmalo!!
I think you will be very happy with your AK--its a great style of khuk and in a great size:) But yeah, you ARE doomed. Just think you will own ONLY one out of a set of 4 sizes of AK's (12,15,18 and 20)that just isn't right;) After you get all the other sizes you will only have ONE set of one type of khuk and there's at least 200 types..... :D

Fasten your seat belt:D

Rob, You forgot the Special Order 25" AK:p

wesmalo, Welcome to the Cantina and congrats on the upcoming AK.:) Not only does H.I. produse about 200 different Khukuris, they also make swords (Tarwars and Katanas), special orders and one of a kind items. Also, as you have already found out, Uncle Bill is great to do business with.:):D

Hey Uncle, you can send some of those Sherpa girls my way:D:D

It goes without saying to any wayfarer who drops by -- Welcome -- but just in case I didn't do it personally (I can't remember anything) -- then Welcome to the Cantina.

Heber, here's a pix of Kanchi, one of Yangdu's younger sisters taken in Sikkim 5 or 6 years ago.

I feel very fortunate to have found this forum.

Thanks for the welcome. I can't wait to see the AK. I hope it gets here before March Break otherwise it will sit in the post office for a week or so (I don't get home delivery here).

It's good to see so many active participants, too. I think this forum benefits from having knives that have character rather than looking like they were created on a computer for the mass market. Though I like all knives, I like to have ones that actually "speak" to me (to quote from another posting).

And in response to the 200 khukuris and swords ... I know. I guess I'll just have to build enough racks for them.

"This time I'm serious honey. It's the last one."

After eight years of marriage, my wife, God bless her, had only this to say when I brought home three new khuks this week:

"Well, at least you didn't go out and buy three more GUNS this week.":D

You are going to be even more pleased than you imagine when you get an HI khukuri in your hands. I think Uncle Bill could make money giving away Khuks; the first one is free then you have to pay sort of deal. But Uncle Bill wouldn't want to operate like a drug pusher:p :D .

I don't partake of drugs and I rarely drink, but I can see myself sitting in one of those 12 step circle groups (no offense intended to those helped by AA and other groups).

"Hello, my name is Wes and I'm a knife addict. It all started when I found the Bladeforums.com site. It grew from there. Soon, one khukuri became another. It spiralled out of control. Then, one day, I awoke in Nepal surrounded by khukuris. They were everywhere. Dancing like sinuous nymphs in front of my eyes, begging me to touch them. Only them."

Yeah. Or something like that anyways.

This fascination is hard to explain to non-knife people. It's good to have the forum. Very good.

Hmmmm….

Sherpa girls.

I could use a beautiful, sensual woman that could carry my pack as well as hers up a mountain on backpacking trips.

I wonder … ?

Hey Uncle, What happened to my bid for Deena ? Oh wait she's Newari. Do they carry packs like Sherpa girls ?

I'm glad to see we are taking this thread to where no post has gone before (like usual) ;)

And Deena is a babe all right...

Are we going to see any more Sherpa or Newali girls? ;) Uncle - I seem to recall you comparing the latter favourably with Kareena...

heh heh... Its sort of comforting to know that however bad your addiction for bent blades is, somebody here probably has it worse. Much, much worse... :D

Plus you have a ready answer for the wife when she asks: "Who in the world would ever want so many knives???!!"
