I am glad to report I just purchased my first Khukuri just minutes ago. It is a 20 inch Ang Khola with wood handles. It will be sent UPS second day, I can not wait!!!!!! A very special thanks to Yangdu and everyone affiliated with HI. It will not be my last, I guarantee it.

Lord have mercy, this feller ain't fooling around. A twenty inch Ang Khola is a beast of a first khukuri, I have a heavy 18" villager version that chops like a double bit axe. For goodness sake take it slow and easy with that thing until you get a feel for it, it'll quite literally lop off an arm or a leg like it was a twig.

Enjoy, and welcome to the nut house. :D

Let us know what you think when you open the box and hold the khuk. I never tire of hearing the happiness from the moment a new forumite finds in his first HI Khukuri.

I don't think I've ever resented newspaper more, than when I unwrap a triangular box from HI.

Diving into the deep end of the pool huh? A 20" AK is a beast. Be careful, when I got my first khukri, I chopped through a low branch so easily that I almost cut my foot and whacked the khukri on the asphalt driveway.

The 20" AK is probably the upper limit of practical size, or maybe even bigger than that!

Of course, I've got a 30" sirupati and me and my son had a heck of a time chopping down a few bushes\saplings that were near the house.

Caution is always a number one for me. I have been using and collecting knives since I was probably three or four. The older I get the more expensive my obsession has become, but with this one it will probably be the most admired. Of course it will be used, eventually.

A 20" AK was my first khukuri also, congrats. Anything choppable on your property is in severe trouble. :D

If you follow the same curve as me, you'll have over 30 of them in less than 3 years.

Nice choice, PG.

With that one and the M43, read the safety thread twice. Those are two dangerous khuks as they go through things.

Selecting a 20" AK for your first khukuri, is sort of like me picking the Ruger Bisley Blackhawk 41 mag for my first handgun.
I still have it, and I wish you the same success with your AK.

Welcome aboard PsychoGlory! You started out right. BIG! Hope you love it.

Steve, I am prepared to be ODD!:o Sorry, I could not help myself.

One piece of advice - use it like you hate it. When I got my 18" AK, I spent the first few weeks playing with it inside and admiring it. Then I started using it to chop down some dead trees, knock some branches off a live tree that was getting too close to the house, and splitting some firewood for my smoker. Now it has some rust and a whole bunch of scratches on it, but I appreciate it much more knowing that it's actually a useful tool. These things were made to be used hard, never forget that.

20 inch AK, oh what joy! Enjoy the piece, I know I would. Show no mercy to the carton it ships in.:D
