Just got my first Kimber Ultra Carry today!! Boy do I like this pistol!!! Not sure what took me so long to buy one so I bought two!! One stainless and one blue!!! Real sweet!!!!!! Now I just have to find time to shoot!!!!

Congatulations. You will find this to be quite the exceptional firearm. Carries very well all day and night long even in an inside waistband holster. I replaced a Detonics with this as a carry piece and have been extremely satisfied.

All the very best.

Hi Mike, those Kimbers do look nice, I almost fainted when I saw one on display at a local gun shop and it had rust on it. I felt like yelling at the guy for letting such a nice item get rusty. Enjoy your new friend bro.

Congrats Mike!
I have had my Kimber Ultra CDP for about 6 months now. They are great! :D Take both of yours out and love em! I put 350 rds through mine on its first shooting day out, to ensure good function. I had read some bad reviews and was scared. It shot all 350 without so much as a hickup. Great shooter with little felt recoil. I expected more recoil out of a 3"bbl. It shoots as comfortably as my full size Sprigfield but carrys like a wisper.
You will love yours, I am sure. Welcome to the club! Have fun!:D

Congrats... the Kimber's are a lot of gun for the money. You'd have to spend appreciably more to do any better (e.g. Baer, Wilson)

If you are handy with a dremel, might want to very carefully polish (don't remove any metal!) the feed ramp. I do this to all my pistols when new. Goal is mirror polish, no machining marks. Those rubbery, mildly abrasive Kratex wheels are a good start IF there are any ridges/grooves left from machining (there may not be any from Kimber), just go slow. Then onto felt wheel with rouge.

Get the gun broken in a bit... say a couple hundred (300 to 400) rounds of el cheapo hardball or whatever. Clean it and lube it good. If the magazines don't allow you to shoot at least 50 and preferably 100 to 200 rounds of your chosen self defense ammo without a hiccup, try a couple Wilson 7 round magazines. Wilson makes among the very best magazines on the market (arguably the best), and mags are quite often the first major key to reliability (assuming you care about such things and may use this for self defense). But if your factory mags work fine, then great... save your money (my factory McCormick "Shooting Star" mags weren't terrible but not 100% reliable either... but my Kimbers are ... whew... 5-6 years old? )

Sidebar: ammonia based cleaners shouldn't be left in the bore for too long (i.e. not overnight). But they are very useful once in a while to remove any of the copper that has plated out in the barrel and doesn't come out with regular cleaning of powder residue. Copper removing will be stated on label, and your nose knows ammonia.

ArchAngel Thanks!!!! rdangerer Thank you as well for the tips!! You can bet I'll take both of your advice!!!

Hopefully not late on this but just recalled that you might seriously consider obtaining Wilson combat mags for this firearm. They are a bit pricier than most but in my humble opinion are better than the factory mags and are worth the extra cost. Shop around and you can find them for approx. $15.00 if I recall correctly.
