My first knife attempt!

Keep it up! It certainly looks a lot better than my first did :D.

Looks good from MY house! Congrats on a nice piece of work. Especially for a rookie. :)

Keep this thread alive with your updates, when they happen. We'd love to see the follow-ups.

Dang! You started off with san mai for your first blade? You are a brave soul. ;) Lookin' good - please do show us how it all comes together.

Cheers,

Roger

Thanks guys, your comments and thoughts are appeciated. Its a bit rough, but I am proud of it!

San Mai on my first attempt... I know!

I think that is why there are two cracks in the blade, not enough to stop the blade being a user, but wow, that stuff is hard to work!

Trond decided, "lets start with mens steel"! :D

Trond has made a stunning handle for the knife! I will post pics as soon as I can, next couple of days with luck! I regret I don't have the room for all the gear needed as I would love to make a knife 100% myself with guidence. That however is not possible for me.

However I consider myself so lucky to have such great guides and even if I only forged the blade, it has my heart and soul poured into every inch of steel in its blade.

Knife makers are heavy metal masters and I bow to thee! :)

...and it's even better looking than I would have expected. Wow!

Congrats on good workmanship and sportsmanship. (You praise Trond quite well.) :D
