So I figured since this was my first post, I would also share my first build, which I finished this morning. I did not build the blade, it is a green river blank, specifically the ripper model with a 4 inch blade. The handles are maple finished in dark walnut with a satin gloss poly eurethane finish. The scales were rough shaped with a dremel tool and finishished by hand with files and sand paper. I forced a patina on the blade with a number of methods, but I ended up lightly sanding the blade, polishing out scratches and using a mixture of hot sauce thinned with cider vinegar for about an hour. The knife is not a high finish knife, but I did not intend it to be. I based this knife on an original early 18th century trade knife that a local museum was gracious enough to let me hold and view up close in person and take some pics of to get an idea of what it to look like. My goal was to create a sturdy, solid knife that gave an impression of a well cared for knife of old age. Eventually I will be building a period correct roach belly for my brother as he does reactments. It is not perfect and their are some things I will do better next time, but it was a blast building and already I am scoping out my next one. Maybe something bushcraft oriented???.... I would love to hear what you guys think !

OK I having technical difficulty with the images... working on it now lol
