This is a Buck skinner that I got as a gift a few years ago. I never really liked it so I thought I would do some work to it and give it to my wife.
I reground the blade on a cheap belt sander, using lots of water to maintain the heat treat. I re-sized the holes in the tang so It would receive my custom mosaic pins. The holes were ground by sacrificing two small grinding stones on my dremmel tool, surprisingly, they came out to be exactly .188" in dia. after grinding, perfect for my .187" pins!
I made the pins myself after spending an hour at the hobby shop playing with all the different tubing.
The scales and lanyard bead is stabilized box elder burl. I couldnt find the right lining material, so (again) I made my own by imbedding fiberglass resin into a few layers of linen material and fixing it directly to the handle material.
Engraving was done with a 12v battery, two leads and a saltwater saturated q-tip after coating the blade with some fingernail polish and scribing the design through to the blade surface.
My wife loves it, but I cant get her to take it outdoors!
Ill be posting my custom Buckmaster 184 and sheath soon.
