I've not been into bladesmithing for long but I finished my first stock removal blade early yesterday and with the rest of the day off I decided to try my hand at forging something. Here are the results of both efforts:
The knife is 1084, stock removal all the way. It has walnut handle slabs and a cast pewter bolster. I acid etched my initials and the date it was heat treated on the other side.
The tomahawk was forged from a high carbon railroad spike, I'm rather proud of it. Although it took me several tries and a couple of spikes but I finally wound up with one that is serviceable. With a sunburned neck and a sore arm I'm just fired up to do more forging now.
