Heres my foray into knife making,
took me quite a while all told,
Now that I know what I'm doing the next one will take me 1/4 as long.
It's not quite finished yet, I have to file of some off the cold weld.

I used a 3.7" Lauri carbon blade

The handle is stacked birchbark glued, and pressed in a vice for a week
I shaped brass cupboard handles into bolsters and used a weird dark lotuswood from spain, they sold it at Lee Valley but I haven't been able to find any info on it, Works nicely though.
I've put about 10 coats of linseed on it.

I know it's rough but I LOVE it!
Birchbark rules,
This is the best hobby in the world, I cant wait to make another one.

Hi Diananike,

We all have to start somewhere. The first knives are exciting aren't they. It's a euphoric feeling. We spend our lives chasing that feeling, and it takes more work every time. Are you going to make your next blade?

Cheers,
