About month ago I ordered finished blade from Mike Irie. Before that I bought his Sport 200 knife so I knew the quality was there.

This is drawing of the blade and changes I made on the handle. This knife is something between ..... well I was influenced by many knife makers. The handle is made of plum-tree wood supplied by my neighbour. The only power tool I used was the drill (to drill holes for the handle screws).

The blade has nice satin finish - unfortunately I do not have digital camera - this is regular scan.

Yes,
it is ATS-34. You can get BG-42 for 50 USD. I wanted it but was not available at the time I needed it.

David,

What's the contact information? I've always liked his wharncliffe-ish shop/utility model, I'd like to see if I can't get it as a kit.

Jon

PS - Was the tang hardened when you drilled the new holes and if so what kind of a drill bit did you use?

The contact address is:

Mike Irie
3002 e Gunnison St.
Colorado Springs, CO 80918
tel: 719 578 9226 (1 800 578 9226)

He offers three blade shapes, just call him and he will send you his drawings (he has no brochure).

The whole blade was hardened with holes pre-drilled (the usual blade has only those two big holes, mine was one of his personal with more holes). I wanted to drill one more - NO CHANCE.

If you want I will send you pictures of his custom knives (finished ones)

Nice looking handle, David!
What kind of sheath are you going to make for this knife?

Alex.

Jon, I sent those pictures already.

Alex, I have no idea. Probably leather sheath - if I find good material.

Hi David, Good looking knife! I especially like the color & grain of the wood slabs on your knife

Nice alteration and completion-at a low price too.

I suppose you are saying that you drilled the wood only?

David,
I really like the look of the wood handles. I have always meant to do a kit knife but just keep putting it off.

Thank you all for nice comments...

I used power tool to alter the shape of the (metal)handle. To finish the wood handle I used only hand tools (except for those holes)- saw and sand paper. Now I am in a process of making those scales a bit thinner.

It is my first project but for sure not the last one.
