it's hard not to get the tip alittle blurry. I took atleast 20 pics to get that one. I guess it's the digital camera, but atleast I can take hundreds of pics then delete them if their not good.
did you use macro? If so the only way to get the tip clear is to make that the focus point. it looks like the emerson logo was your focus point. In order to bring in more light as i said in a previous post, turn off the flash, have an indirect light source not pointing directly at the knife and up the ISO setting and slow down the flash, using a small tripod of a stack of books to steady the camera would be ideal as at these settings you want minimal shaking. Good Luck, nice pic! I love this recent pic i took. Not a knife but still a weapon!
killerskill, the tip blurry problem you mentioned is due to a lack of depth of field. In other words depth of field= the distance in front of and behind the focal point which will remain sharp. More increases this distance less reduces it. In general it is difficult to get lots of DOF in closeup shots. If your camera has adjustable apertures you can increase it some by using a smaller aperture (larger numbers) and slowing down the shutter speed to compensate for the exposure. If you go below 1/60th sec you will need to use a tripod. That is a very nice shot by the way especially for a first try.
I'm just learning this. I hardly k now how to use this camers. it's an Olympus C-730. I just picked it up and I'm trying to learn. I'm trying to get the lighting right first. There is alot to these cameras. it's not point and shoot.
It is light what is really important to make good photoes. If you have WightBalance settings - you may use regular bulbs as a light source. With tripoid you may use long exposure time and bigger depth field. Tripoid and cheap desk lamps make good setup for static shots like for knives etc.
Suzukigsx1300, I don't know what a macro is. I was using sunlight in these pics. The pics inside or with a flash don't turn out well AT ALL. And what kind of snake is that? Wait, it's a ball python.
