So, while I have attended many a gun show in my lifetime, I'd never been to any knife specific show. Most of my knives were/are purchased via internet, with a few from local brick and mortar stores and from gun shows thrown into the mix.
Well, my first knife show attendance was yesterday, but it was truly a tiny local event. Having met up with a friend of mine to do some perusing there, it still wound up being fun. My friend actually got a decent deal on an unused Camillus Cutlery manufactured Becker Tac Tool. As for me, surprisingly, I did not find anything that I just had to add to my collection. Again, there were very few tables overall at this firehouse held event. I must have gone by every one of those few tables about a dozen times, before I simply gave up on trying to see if something would call out to me. My friend's purchase of the unused Camillus/Becker Tac Tool, was a good one, imo. It came with no box or any of it's original literature, but... his final purchase price, and it obviously being in new unused condition, still made it a good score :)

Real knife shows are fun. The really big shows like BLADE take days to really go through things. One of my favorite shows is held in Dalton GA in March (Spring). It's small, but all knives for the most part and maybe 100 tables tops. I have not been attending gunshows much over the last couple of years. I just stopped buying a lot of stuff and the local gun shops fulfill my needs for the most part now. I have bought a number of handmade knives over the years at gun shows. Those shows introduced me to "knife shows" and then I started attending the early BLADE shows in the 90's held in Knoxville TN. Those were fun but still quite large.

You went to a knife show and you didn't buy anything!

I've only gone to a couple and enjoyed it, and just couldn't walk out without buying something. I did notice that you can go into a sort of overload if you spend to much time at one (depending on size, of course), after all you can only look at so many Case knives before your eyes start spinning:confused:. They have a couple of nice ones here in the St. Louis area which I would recommend-not too big, not too small and they're spread apart nicely with one in January and one in August. They can become habit forming.
