I have done a couple local market/fairs but not a knife show. I am trying to put together a good cross section of my designs and different materials, in several price ranges. Its a little overwhelming. They will be judging several knives in several different categories so I am trying to put my best foot forward. Ive never had my knives judged by other makers so that's in my head, I will admit. My question is, how many knives should I bring? I don't want to run out of any particular design but I want to kill myself trying to get 10 of each style. Do they judge them first? What happens of someone buys the knife you wanted to enter in the judging?

You will find that most of your concerns are really in your own mind...Knifemakers will offer advice /criticism only if asked.

Be ready for what you get buit don't take it personal.

You will do fine....good luck

You can drive yourself bonkers as Big John implied thinking of what to bring.

Have at least one of each of your designs. You can all take orders. The one tip I can give you on multiples, Is bring more of your lessor priced knives. As a new maker, and just coast, you are more likely to sell those.

Judging is usually done on Saturday at 1PM ( or something like that). If I have a particular knife that I want to enter, and a customer wants to buy it before then, I ask if they can leave it with me until after the judging. If they say ,"No, I have to go soon, I wrap the knife up and don't worry about the judging. As the old knifemaker Aesop said, "A SALE IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO PLAQUES IN THE BUSH."

Just go, meet people, smile, talk, and have business cards for everyone to take. Mostly, have fun.
