Hello all,

So this is my first attempt at making a knife. I know it's not pretty but it was made from an existing blade that I found partially buried in the back yard a couple years ago, left behind from one of the previous owners I suppose. Been using it ever since for odd jobs around the garden, so it was pretty beaten up. Thought it would be a good candidate for a first knife project. Took a couple inches off either side, re-profiled, and re-ground. Used some scrap micarta I had lying around (from a production knife I re-gripped) for the grips. As well as some scrap leather for a sheath (new to leatherworking as well). Wasn't a full tang so that was the hardest part to work out. And the 2 posts at the bottom are off (not centered) because of the existing tang shape of the blade. Went through a carbide and titanium drill bit widening the holes in the tang to fit the steel rod I had from home depot. Not sure what type of steel it is but guessing it's high carbon.

Thanks for looking!

Neat Knife, Nice Shape and Usable Size.
It looks like you also did a very good job on the sheath.

Hey, thanks Tim. I was afraid it would be a bit smallish but turned out to be a decent all purpose knife. I learned a good deal from making it..and glad that it turned out a bit rough so I can put it to good use just like the original. Which was on the larger size and had a shape that I wasn't too fond of.
