I want to get into knife making but didn't know if this is something I want to do. I have never done any metalwork before and didn't want to waste money in case I didn't like it. So I got some scrap metal from my local scrap yard for $0.50 per pound and ground these out. I used some scrap 2x4's for the handle material. I didn't heat treat.

Here is the second one I made. You can see where there used to be a nail in the 2x4.
This was fun. I got some 01 steel and am going to try making and heat treating a knife.

. Are your scales just epoxyed on? You need pins to make sure it all stays together. But for primarily crap supplies and a first go not a bad start, you'll be amazed how quickly you can get better with practice and reading in this forum like crazy! Good luck!
