I finally got my first knife done! I used cheap mild steel, because I figured I'd make a mess of the first one. Turned out alright, though, so now I wish I'd used O1.

7" overall, 3.5" blade, cocobola handle. I made and used a one-brick forge to harden it (though, with the junk steel, it isn't hard enough to use as a real knife). I really enjoyed making it, and look forward to starting the next one. This is an addictive hobby!

Looks great Jeff. Everyone I've ever talked with that used junk steel had the knife turn out great....and with they had used real steel :) Keep it up.

Very Nice !
Make 3 more just like it to practice with your tools.
It'd make one mean steak or Texas size BBQ knife set.

Keep at it. You obviously have knack for it...

Fine looking knife Jeff now head down to metals supermarkets on shefield road and get yourself some O1 for the next one and keep it up. Great work!

Very nice work Jeff. Most of us still have the first one - and that one will display as well as any and you can be more proud than most of us.

Rob!

Mild steel! Oh, the humanity!! It came out so nice!:D

Good work Jeff, if that is your first, you have set the bar quite high for yourself. Looking forward to seeing more.
