I put this over on the makers page to see what makers thought, wanted to see what ya'll thought, any constructive comments/critiques very much welcome!

About the knife, its made of 5/32" o-1 has tung-oiled walnut scales with red liners and 1/4" stainless pins peened and all superglued together. I heat treated it in a weber charcoal grill using a hair dryer for a bellows..which worked as far as i can tell using the file test but i wont do that again.:D I went ahead and ordered a poorboy propane forge.

Anyways, I think i am addicted to making knives now!!
Thanks for checkin it out!

Nice work on the superglue. Good work, looks like the grind and finish are nice, and amazing considering it was over a coleman w/hairdryer. You have some talent.

Thanks dandreco..yeah you should have seen this thing when i pulled it out of the coals! I thought i ruined it. It had black crust all over it and i wasn't sure if it would clean up.:(

But it did!:D

Thanks fellas! Yeah im afraid i have a new addicttion here...just what i need!:D

That's a great looking, usefully shaped blade, regardless of it being your first or hundredth! Being your first is pretty amazing. What're the blade/oa lengths?

Thanks lastxj, dberry, and banana-clip!

about the knife, it is 6 and 3/8" overall with a 2.5" blade.

I wanted something small and easy to carry..and easy to make! My next knife is a little over 9" overall with 4.25" blade for my brother. it has a lot more belly than the first for skinning deer. I already have it ground but need to heat treat and finish it out. It'll have a nickle-silver gaurd that hangs down a little just on the edge side. Im thinking stabilized ebony with 1/4" mosaic pins, red liners and a thong hole pin at the rear of the handle for a lanyard. Then im going to buff this one on a wheel til she glows!
Here it is next to the littl'un.

Sticky, looks like you've got another nice knife started there! Congrat's on a new hobby and some serious skill.

I don't remember the knives that I had when I was a kid, but I remember my first good knives that I had when I started collecting as an adult. They were a bunch of el cheapo knives from Bud K. The most memorable ones were the United Rambos, 1,2, and 3. I don't remember when I got my first knife, but I had a camp knife, with a spoon, fork, and a knife.:o

Maybe i should have said "Made my first knife".

wow makes mine look like el sheeto, really nice - my envy is yours

Thanks! Did you make yours with a belt grinder or files or?
I tried doing one with hand tools and a bench grinder but gave up and threw it in the garbage. After reading more I knew i had to build a 2x72" belt grinder....what a difference!

Good design, simplicity is functional and often is beauty. That you accomplished this with improvised tools indicates you certainly are pro material.
