I have always wanted to make my own knife but never tried it until now. I see now why folks say its addictive because Im on my 3rd one. I even decided to try sheath making for my knives and thats addictive also! lol
Thats my first sheath also. I dont post much but I read here on the forums everday and try to learn all I can. Thanks for looking.

Nice stuff, well done. Looks like you've got some experience building things. I like them both. Dozier

Thanks everyone for the kind words of encouragement. I do have experience building things Wdtorque, I'm a carpenter by trade and have most of the tools already. I am going to try my hand at forging soon! I went to the Blade show yesterday and picked up a few more blades until I am able to forge my own.

My son was very happy when he recieved his knife yesterday. He actually helped me with it unknowingly choosing the blade style and mosaic pins and handle materials. He says he cant wait for the next camping trip.

I'm almost done with my 3rd knife (final polish) but decided to post a picture because I'm calling it a day and taking the wife and kids out to dinner. Its a upswept skinner with morning star mosaics and buckeye burl handles. The buckeye turned out great. Infact this might be my favorite wood so far.

Nice job!!! Good start to an addictive habit! HE HE HE

Heres a old Henkels cleaver I cleaned up and put a new edge on. I then replaced the cracked/broken handle and made it 3/4" longer in the handle for my large hands. The handle material came from Burl Source here on the forum and its called "Flashy Red Eye Dead Man's Maple Burl". Hope you guys like it.
