Hey guys, thought id show off my first real large knife. The next largest knife I have is around 5 inches. Rest are around 4 inches :)

I got this guy as a gift from my brother and his wife to be:).

This knife is very well balanced and I think it would make a great substitute for a forest axe. Ill give a full review in the weeks ahead. I think im in love with my new mistress :D

Damn, well your brother knows knives! Great looking blade! Looks like you put a convex edge on that one too.

Not convexed just yet, but will be in time. My bro picked up how much I loved it since I showed him and talked about it a lot :D

I think this is going to be a great user

Actually, the blade is convexed, just the final bevel looks straight.

Mine came sharp enough to shave with, so I figure I just keep stropping it to keep it sharp and it'll be fully convexed in no time.

What stone or hone is best for that steel, if you need to move metal? NOT some doodlebug, just a bench hone that works..

tyvm ..

Well, the nice thing about INFI is that it's probably the only "super steel" that is easy to sharpen. I've used a standard Norton India stone followed by an Arkansas and a strop to sharpen all of mine. If you need to really move metal (not too likely as INFI tends to roll, rather than chip) a standard diamond hone (like the Smith's they sell at Wal*Mart) works well.

If you want a convex edge, you can either do it by hand with a stone, use the sandpaper and mousepad trick, or a belt sander.

I'm just going to let mine slowly convex the edge to match the rest of the blade profile as I strop it.

Not exactly testing the large knife waters, are ya?

That beast will get the job done, then some.

Great gift.
