This is my first leather sheath. Never made one before. I needed a leather sheath for my Ulysses and had a very specific design in mind. I showed it to a couple of leather guys who told me that they didn't think it would function very well as far as the fit on the blade and being able to draw the knife. I tried to explain to them the idea of how the inside of the sheath would hold the blade and how the blade would move in and out, but I don't think I have the verbal prowess to do a good enough job of conveying the idea. I knew that it would work so I just decided to make it myself. I think it turned out pretty good for my first time. What do you guys think? I don't like sheaths to look new, so I gave it that slightly beaten up and used look.

This was the concept:

and this is the finished product:

That turned out really well! Just jump in at the deep end, why don't you! :)

Holy and there was me expecting to see some rough looking first attempt !!!

Damn fine example of sheathing. I wish my first one was that good. Mine looked like a puking 4yr old done the stitch work, and Stevie Wonder done the dye job. Very well done, sir, and congrats on the new forums, still has that new forum smell.

By the way, I just looked at this again and saw that some leather guys told you it wouldn't work--what didn't they think would work? Based on just the concept drawing it looks like it would work just fine, not to mention the fact that it does actually work in real life

Nice work Dylan! Congrats on the forum brother.

Leatherwork is harder then it looks. Ive recently gotten into bending leather.
