Hey hows it going, I have not posted for a bit the girls all star softball games have taken over my life and my knife making, we're at the fields every day until dark and for the last 4 weekend out of town playing and we still have 1 1/2 months left so I thought i'd try something that i always wanted to do in fact this the reason i started making knives is to make pocketknives it only took me 1 1/2 years to do it "damn fixed blades" so this is my first locking folder it has a 2.6" blade and is 6 1/8" overall the blade is .200 thick and 1" wide its made of 1095 and 15n20 60 layers , I forged it last weekend and had the last two days off so here's what i did. i might treat the handles like a wood handle and tapper them like you would a grip hope you understand that, but maybe not . Please help with anything you see that need work . I pleased with it being the first one but theres many to come this is fun I did it a FOLDER

The blade in my opinion seems way to thick, maybe adding a thumb stud and pocket clip. But i think one thing would look really good, i know its too late but i think a flipped on the blade would make it look really nice.. not sure if a flipped works very well with a lockback though... just an idea for your future designs.

oh another thing that would make it look better, is to maybe shave down a little bit on the handle and blade as well as maybe a hole similar to a spyderco hole. or make it your own patented hole like since your name is ironarmyknives maybe like a star or something that resembles the army or something that means a lot to you.

i apologize for not adding in the pros of the knife which there are a lot of!. the damascus blade as well as the blade curve is wicked. im loving the color of it as well. adding a nice colored wooden handle would really accent it and make it a very desirable piece. adding serrations to it or to a future knife would be cool as well.. and after seeing this i think you have what it takes to make some pretty amazing knives that i hope to see on the market and maybe even buy! As long as its in my price range.... Keep up the good work man! im liking it a lot!!

Nice! Very nice!
Cons:
The pivot is too "shiny" in comparsion with other parts.
If I see correctly, the end of lock is higher than the scales. It can be dangerous. User can unlock the blade while he uses the folder.

But nice, very nice!

A flipper is impossible on a lockback unless you have a hole through the locking bar which the flipper can go through, but that's a pretty awkward solution IMO. I think SOG has a patent on that.

yes i have not put the pivot in FC yet i'm gone for the weekend and wanted to see what you all thought i need to trim the end of the lock down some and not sure about taking some steel of the sides and adding some bone on the scales
i just wanted to make sure it all worked being the first one and as for a thumb stud i don't think i want them with the laws the Commie are going to make it going to need two hands to open to be good and i think them thumb studs are going to be in the past i do like them but not on this one and no pocket clip just a sheath the next knives will be better i need to try some other locking mech. also to learn how you all make these. thanks for the help God knows i need it

Sold !!!! i was going to keep it ,but this guy on my kids softball team gave me 200.00 for it. i stamped my name on it ,trimmed the lock down dipped some parts in CF to make it finished gave it to him today ,he said it was like a role of Quarters in his hand and he loved it he was tired of cheap light pocket knives he had a sheath for it and was a happy man

Ok. First off. Beautiful knife. I LOVE the colors and the pattern. I like the blade shape and the pivot. But... the lock and the blade don't meet up too evenly. The rear of the lock looks like its ground crooked. I think the handle and blade need to be thinned down a bit. It looks like your tip chipped off. You need to make the recurve of the blade a bit smoother and flow a little more. I think if the blade sat a little straighter in the handle it wouldnt look so awkward also. And, i think it would look good if the screws werent so countersunk. But what you like and what i like are two different things and as long as you like it thats all that matters. It must weigh a ton though! Just try and make everything flush. Oh, i just read that you sold it. Great job! I wasn't trying to be a di**, just help you out a bit. I don't have enough skill to even really be saying that, but if it helps you out thats all im hoping for.
