Really nice damascus.... why do you etch the blade after you bevel it? Most knifemakers I encounter etch the blade before they bevel/sharpen it...

Regardless, wonderful stuff

When I make A knife for a collector they often want to see the pattern all the way down the bevel. This has a nice edge , if you look real close it is shinny about .010 up the bevel . This custmor will never sharpen this knife. THANKS

Beautiful knife! The mammoth scales are very interesting and lovely.
Somehow it feels like vinegar to the teeth to know that such a knife will never even be sharpened. I know it is a collectible and all, but to me it seems like for a knife or sword or other cutting instrument to be called such it should be sharp and capable of doing the job for which it is designed and named...otherwise, it should be called art or jewelry or something else. It is in no way meant to impugn you, as it is obvious you are a master artisan/knife maker, and I LOVE the knife.

I know what you are talking about. I used to tell people I make working knives and I dont sell them with out a sharp edge.A man at a show looked me straight in the eye one time and asked me If I wanted to sell him a knife, of course I said yes. He said I want a knife just like that but I want it etched after you sharpen it.( you can still put a 30 degree edge and not shine it much) Here is my adress and phone number I will buy it. So I figured his money so I made it. LOL

Beautiful knife.:thumbup::thumbup: Have always wanted to try a piece of mammoth tooth. After seeing this one it just whet my whistle again with "the urge".

very nice good blade shape just finished grinding one very simalar in damascus the tooth looks great, I find useing tooth depends alot on the quality I have had stuff chipp while sanding very gently : not fun the main problem is you only have to drop the knife once on a hard surface and its all over
