A little while back I talked with J Neilson and told him that if he wanted that we would work any future sheathwork I did for him on a trade basis. He agreed and ask me what I wanted.
My wishes were simple. A stag bowie, 7 to 8 inch W2 blade with hamon, and wrought iron fittings.I fully expected to work off at least some of the sheaths before receiving the bowie, so I was surprised :Dwhen J sent me an email recently asking if this piece suited me!
Just as I ask for, stag, mulitple quenched, 7 1/2" W2 blade with hamon, wrought iron fittings with a mosaic damascus spacer, 12 1/2 OAL.J calls this one the "Mississippi Bowie". The fantastic sheath by Paul is a trade also.Needless to say, I LOVE this package:thumbup::thumbup:!

So you are now a collector in addition to being a fine maker.

Beautiful knife/sheath combination.

Yeah Kevin, I guess I am;)! Funny thing is I never considered myself a collector until I counted and realized I had almost a dozen handmade knives, none of which I made. That and the fact that I found myself trading my sheath making services for knives:D!

Very Cool John Trading is a fine way to go and you are a good guy to work with.

That's a fine bowie from a talented maker - congrats John. Sheath is typical Paul Long excellence.

Thanks everyone! J is one of those guys that seems to fly under the radar, but makes a superb knife and can fit most budgets as well, and everyone, maker's and collector's alike, know that Paul's work is top shelf:D!

WOW, you are an excellent trader, John.

Fine leatherwork, Paul !

Nice knife John. Paul's sheath work always makes my stuff look better. The leather dresses up the piece a lot.

I'm glad your liking her, keep cutting up stuff!

J, Paul, John: Most excellent.

So gratifying when a package all comes together!

Congrats!
