I own several CRK fixed blades and Sebenzas, but this is my first Mnandi. Wood is nice, but I decided to go with the mammoth ivory. It's almost too pretty to carry, but I think I will anyway....

Looks good. A nice canvas for some scrimshaw?

Interesting idea, but I think I'll leave it as is. There's a certain understated elegance inherent in the design that I think is probably left undisturbed.

The Mammoth Ivory is superb to look at, but also is a great choice if you're planning to use it. I am now carrying a Giraffe Mnandi, as my Camel Wood is currently away being oiled by a friend and the bone is proving a great material ... very smooth but still grippy and workable. I'm planning to continue to carry it for a good while longer :D as the sebenza has now been resigned strictly to home use, only.

You definitely started with a beauty, there :)

Appreciate the comments. I didn't even know one could get a Mnandi in giraffe bone. That might be my next one!

Hi GoodGuy,

The Giraffe Bone is a Limited Edition from KnifeArt.com - there are only 50 of them. I got mines secondhand and was very lucky :D

It's finish is very similar texture to the inner cut Mammoth Ivory

Goodguy,
Congrats on the ivory. Smooth as silk looking. I'm stuck on the ivory small Sebenza's and Mnandi's myself. I bit the price bullet and went with the mammoth bark ivory Mnandi just last week.

Roefisher,
Great photos again! Nice Giraffe Mnandi. I missed out that run. :grumpy:

Nice. Perhaps the bark ivory of your Mnandi helped to protect the inner ivory used for mine! Hey... could've been from the same mammoth. I wonder how old the ivory is. If I recall from my history, mammoths died out some 15 to 20 thousand years ago.

I think it's cool to be able to carry around part of an animal that was alive 10-20 thousand years ago. I have a LE bark ivory on order and I'm hoping to get it soon.

Are you talking about a Limited Edition bark ivory sebenza? I have never seen one of those before. I have always wondered if Chris Reeve ever make any of LEs in bark ivory.
