I actually wound up making two of these out of wood to get the mechanics down
before attempting to build this one. They made some cool birthday gifts for friends
kids.

A bit more challenging than I thought, however it came out pretty close to my
original design.

Flat grind, 3/16" edge quenched 5160. Ivory Micarta handles w/ Nickle silver pins and
SS gaurd. Balanced right at the index finger.
7" blade 12"OAL

Next attempt will have Black Micarta or maybe some Giraffe bone or Elk slabs and a
Mirror polish using 440c

Suggestions are welcome and appreciated
A special thanks to the makers in my club AKCA for there advice on getting this one made.

Nice job ,looks like you can really make a good blade on your coote
I love the pin pattern on the blade
keep up the good work;)

Thanks for the kind words.
Actually the type grinder has little to do with the results.
Unless you don't have one, then it gets tough!

My hat is off to the guys who are making blades with a hacksaw, a drill and files:D

That is one nice looking Bowie, Robert! I too especially like the handle, and the design of the pins. Can imagine the same handle in ebony would look fantastic. Probably other handle materials too. Keep it up!
