I've got a couple of Case Peanuts around and an old Buck Stockman from my late grandfather, but these GEC's are what I would consider my first nice slipjoints. They are definitely a change of pace from my 'tacticool' folders that don't get carried at the office. Oh, and they make great apple slicers!

The 3-1/2" length is absolutely the perfect pocket size for me. ;)

Amber jig bone and spring green:

Nice! The spear dogleg has been my EDC for a few weeks now. And a perfect one at that.

Nice looking knives. How's the pull?

I've been meaning to ask you guys about that... what's your 'scale' of measurement?

I see folks write, "it's about a 5-6 on pull." Five or six pounds, or five to six on scale of one to ten, with ten being nail breaker???

Here's my best guesstimate... pull is tight but not a nail breaker. The long pull on the Northfield offers less leverage than the traditional nick on the Tidioute - so the Northfield is just a touch more difficult. Neither bother me in one bit, seems like a nice 'pull'.

I think that's the generally accepted scale of measurement around here.

Nice knives, Big Red. These GEC Doglegs ride in the pocket well and fit the hand (at least mine) great!

The #56 is all i carry these days. Mine has the clip blade but i'm getting the itch for one of those spear blades.

Nice selection of bone on those two. Very good knives, got the 56 Spear in Ebony myself, would like to get a bone one too but funds don't permit just now.

I got #56 Ebony Spear and it has been riding ALOT in my packet past few weeks. Its really great knife.

Wow that green bone looks amazing!!! I need to get me one of those...IMO its hard to make green work on a knife, if its too bright its over bearing but that is spot on what i'd want.

What is GEC like for color bleed? I've noticed it with Queens amber bone a little but dont have any GEC as yet.

great pics & excellent choice. as to bone bleed i've noticed some on several gecs . for my users i wipe the bone with a rag of white vinegar then wipe the entire knife with wd40 & remoil. vinegar acts as a dye setter on textiles & also bone & micarta. of course after vinegar you need to lube knife well.---dennis

You've got good taste the old dogleg jack has to be one of easiest carrying slipjoints out there I've got a GEC Tidioute #56 Dogleg jack in smooth ivory bone and I can't hardly put it down.

Good stuff Red! I'm a little slow, I have a #56 clip point in the mail.
Then I suppose I'll be forced to order the spear point. :p

I have a dogleg with the Clip blade, which I prefer to the spear, but those are both very very nice. I have on occasion carried other knives than the dogleg since getting it in December, but not often.

Congrats.

I too have been looking at maybe getting a GEC or two in the near future.

All that I have right now are Cases and a couple of other production knives.

But I have been looking at GEC's patterns on the web and they've literally been making me water at the mouth.

I really love their choice of steel.

Congrats on the nice new knives man!
