I was at Gander Mountain yesterday and they had a few Buck Whittaker 751 Approach knives on closeout for $14. So I picked one up just to give it a try.

I must say its fit and finish is as nice as any US made Buck I own. Solid lockup, no blade wobble, scales fit perfectly. The design doesn't really impress me that much but the workmanship is nice. I'll try to post a few pics of it soon.

I'll be interested in how the edge holding compares with an American made model. I have actually had decent luck.

Here are some pics of my new 751:

I did a little cutting with it the past few days and the edge is holding up well. I plan to keep it clipped to a pack so I doubt it will ever get much use. Kind of a backup or there-if-you-need-it knife.

I have one like that Messy. But mine has a bottle opener and spring loaded clip...I gotta find that bottle opener (that's been it's primary use for me).

Here's my first....nice wood, nice workmanship.

These have "China" stamped on the tang rather than etched like some you see.

And definitely Buck Quality.

Messer, your comments about MSRP and Retail on Buck knives stirred me to ask this question. I have been acquiring my Buck collection of 110 mostly from the internet/Ebay so I have little if any idea what the MSRP or Retail price was/is for the knives I have purchased. I recently reviewed the Buck catalog for 2007 trying to get some idea of what MSRP is for new Bucks. For instance I see the 110 Chipflint Folding Hunter with a MSRP of $300. I think I have seen the very same knife on eBay for $199 BIN with NO TAKERS! If I wanted to add this knife to my collection what price should I expect to pay?
$300 MSRP? $199 Ebay? Something less? A LOT less?

It was just said, but yes MSRP is more or less double what street price when new.
