Hi folks!

I found this Coghlins label Opinel #8 in the drawer this weekend. Had forgotten about it and for sure had forgotten it's actually an Opinel.

Since we were locked down due to Hurricane Florence I thought I'd give a handle modification a shot. I had only done a quick sand and refinish of an Opinel #7 previously.

Don't consider myself much of a craftsman but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Can't see yours, but here is a simple mod I did to my No 12. I don't have much in the way of fingernails, so nail nicks don't have much use to me. I simply sanded a larger depression in the area of the nail nick so I can pinch the blade with my fingers to open. Works perfect for me now.

Nice! I much prefer the carbon to the stainless blades! Pics up now in original post.

Nice! I'm liking both of the mods. I've got a No. 7 & 8 sitting here that I plan on playing with at some point. My first thought was to add some form of ez-open like kookoo. But have also wanted to try some artistic totem carving like I've seen around here by some. The problem is, I'm not very artistic. So I haven't been able to pull the trigger and potentially destroy whatever I touch. It'll happen at some point. Until then, I appreciate those of you who have shared your creations. It helps me get a little closer to trying.

yeah these things are really fun to mod! I'm thinking of getting some more just to play with. ;)
