My first pipe hawk

I've made a few spike hawks in the past, but this is my first pipe. Head was forged from 1 1/2 square by 6 inch mild steel with 1084 forge welded in for the cutting edge and features carved and filed mouldings and an aged finish. The haft is extra fancy curly maple stained and finished in Tru Oil. The top wrap is rawhide and the bottom is braintanned buckskin. The mouthpiece is deer antler, and the smoke plug is a thin damascus knife that was a hidden surprise for the customer, and the top cap is wrought iron underlayed with copper.

Nice. I like the "surprise knife"!
Beautiful handle.

Kind regards,

Jos

that's pretty sweet! I wouldn't mind smoking a big bowl out of that unit.
Did you smoke it, John?

Thanks guys. I did'nt smoke it Lorien. I quit 7 years ago, but the customer smokes a pipe and he said he is going to fire it up.

we should get some action shots, eh?

Thanks guys. Lorien I don't think the owner of this one is real computer savay but I'll certainly ask!
