Finally tried a pipe tomahawk. The head on this one is 6 1/2" with a 2 1/4" cutting edge. The haft is 22" made out of curley maple with an axis stag mouth piece. Got the two seed tomahawk heads heat treated and finished tonight.

Very nice, Richard. I like it a lot. Looking at it I can't tell that that is your first "attempt" at a pipe hawk.

After some finishing and whatnot, those little hawks are looking more and more appealing. Hmm... You planning on making any others?

The only way I won't be making any others is if I drop dead all of a sudden. Thanks for the comment. I see one thing that I can change on the next pipe hawk that should make a big difference and that can be done while forging. Infact I have an urge to go light it up and do some banging.....

Very nice Richard love your diddy hawks whats next a diddy pipe hawk

I've been thinking about a mini pipe hawk. About the size of a regular pipe. The little ones in the picture are 3 3/4". I'm pretty sure I can forge one alittle bit smaller than these. I made a real small hawk drift but have yet to try it. I've got a few knives I plan to finish up this next week but I may want to take a break and do some forging. I'll keep you posted....

Very nice. Did you make the head? If not, where did you get it. While I am at it has ANYONE ever seen a pipe tomahawk with a octagon pipe for sale? Golden Age Arms used to sell one that they called the "fort defiance" model. Thanks,
