Hi everybody!
I've been around here for a long time, reading and learning, but this is my first post. I have to say that I learn a lot in here, you guys have the finest internet forum i've found. I really enjoy reading here.

After saying that, I want to introduce you to my favorite POS, you can see it here:

It's a cheap (very cheap) Tramontina lockback. The scales are made of plastic (I don't mean "zytel", I mean "plastic") riveted against each other.
I'm not sure about the steel of the blade (I'm not sure if is really steel) but I swear that it cannot be sharpened.
The blade have play in any direction, and when it's closed the edge hits the spring of the lock.

BUT...

It really feels good in my hand, even in reverse grip. The shape of the blade is very useful, and feels more larger than it is (3").

It's a shame, it could be my favorite outdoors knife.

What about you?
Anyone here, in the land of the highend steel and custom makers have a favorite POS too ;)?

Sorry for my engish :o

I've got a 2" all-steel Spyderco knockoff that I bought for exactly $3.50. It's actually built quite well. No blade play. The steel is soft, but I can get it sharper than any of my $100+ knives. Go figure.

Welcome to the forums Alberto. The knife you pictured is a ripoff of the old Bucklite model. They're available pretty cheap on e-bay. There's a Buck Lite in production now, but it's not as similiar.

There's an old one. The handles came in green and black too, IIRC.

I haven't found a POS that can hold up to what I dish out, so I hate most of them. I did have a Bucklite ripoff that I gave as a gift and it seemed solid enough. That would probably be it.

Great NeedleRemorse!

Now maybe I can get a decent version of that knife :)

I always wonder how a good design could have so terrible execution. I don't know how I didn't think that it could be a ripoff.

Thanks!

*Those POS made in China copies of the SAK that you see at the dollar store.
*Any folders made in Pakistan that wiggle like a snake when opened, and cuts almost as good as a ripe banana.

My fav POS is a Kershaw Vapor. Oh wait! That's actually a pertty darn good knife, it's just cheap.

The design of my favorite POS is almost 100 years old. I could have spent $400 for an original Marbles, or $200 for one of Marbles new ones (talk about over the top pricing!). Cold steel offers a similar one for $20. But this one, bought for $6.00 with the simple ballsitic cloth sheath is one of the most used knives I own. Every hunting outing it is tucked into my boot. Stainless steel, made in Taiwan, holds a shaving sharp edge.

I'm a very firm beleiver that if a POS does the job, buy it and use it. Welcome, Alberto; your English is much better than my Spanish.

Saludos desde México.

I have several Tramontina fixed blades and one machete, some are crappy, some are OK for the price, my favorite is a knockoff of a Buck fixed blade, it´s not a bad knife but it wasn´t that cheap, Tramontina makes some pretty decent kitchen knives too.

I have a Buck Bucklite 422, the original from which yours was copied, it is a very good knife and wasn´t expensive.

I don´t have a favorite POS, I do have some cheapos from China but can´t say I like any of them.

I don't own one, but I have always thought I would like to have one of those United Cutlery Rambo 420J2 knives. They just look cool.

I actually have some Fury and M-Tech knives that I really like alot. Didn't spend more than $10 on any of them.

Tramontina is a strange case, I've heard about very good knives from them, and have a couple of terrible ones.
Is weird because you tend to expect similar quality in the entire line of a maker.
