Yesterday I was blessed enough to be commissioned as an Lt in the Army and was lucky enough to be given my first Randall. My dad gave me a model 15 with a sharpened swedge. It is a real beast of a knife and I know I could put it through anything.

i've never seen a randall broken or even used down severly. still forged in swedish 01 as far as i know. these knives may not be the most sexy in the world but have the most far reaching reputation on the planet. that said i do'nt have even one.---dennis

I have 2 Randalls, a #25-5 and a #3-7. Both look fantastic and feel great in hand, but both arrived with a dull unusable edge.
Many people here say "so what, just sharpen it up yourself", but it takes a fair degree of skill to do the expert job on the edge that these knives deserve.
How sharp is your #15 ?

Grat's Lt.! I do not know a damn thing about Randall's other than hearing that they are super collectible and seem to gain value at an nice rate.

It's funny that sharpness was brought up. My dad has a dive model from when he was first in the army and it is duller than a shoe. Mine though came very sharp, even the sharpened swedge could easily cut, I'm really glad it came with a working edge. The grip is a little smooth but with the finger indentations and the guard your hand won't be going anywhere.

Very cool. Congratulations on your commission! Be sure to thank your father immensely for that blade - that's one damn fine knife.

Thanks for the congrats
I was lucky to get this knife, but my dad may have just gotten me in a far more expensive subculture of knife collecting :)

Congratulations on your commissioning. Is it still a tradition to give the first person who salutes you a dollar?

You are bringing back memories.
