I bought it in Desert Camo, with the combo edge from Knifepro.com (not recommended).

Downside is that I haven't been able to carry it or use it yet; hopefully that will change when my son and I go camping and hog hunting this weekend.

One question I have is: What in the heck do I do with those plastic Molle clip things? I don't have a Molle vest, don't plan to get one and the clips don't look like they have enough clearance to use on a leather belt, plus they look like a major pain to put on and take off. So what do I use them for?

And just to be clear: You can stop at just one... right? :)

Thanks,

Al

I left them in the bag in case I ever get a pack with molle strips on it. :)
At that point I will make (or buy) a second belt sheath and mount the stock sheath to the pack.

on the unused Items keep them b/c oneday as your knowledge grows you may find a use for them...with the 4 or another set up.
Congrats on the ESEE 4 DT

TTD hit the nail on the head. I have molle locks from my 3 and 4 and haven’t used them yet, still in the bag. However, I keep finding other pieces of gear that I’m thinking about using them on. For larger knives like the 6, having the option to mound a sheath on a molle compatible pack is great. Nice option for them to offer.

Albin I use on my bags, school and active. Like my Dakines, and Maxpedition. But I also found handy uses for it, like on my body armor for when I ride my bikes? The side flexing strips? Ummm Icon has these weird biking pants they use to make that had webbing on it, I had a friend restitch and also add to them, works like a charm.

I thought I'd never get vest either, than Tactical Tailor happened and a few other good places and stuff :P

No, you cannot stop at just one. Dont even try.
The 4 is an excellent choice for first ESEE. I love the 4! Take it out and use it in the kitchen once if nothing else. It does anything and everything!
We even skin deer with it. Good blade!

Great knife! Stop at one, yeah right welcome to serious addiction. I use the molle locks on my leather belt, and they work great for me, snap on-snap off really quick and easy. It also keeps the knife high and tight to my side which I like, out of the way til I need it. The RC-4 is a real deal survival knife. KNIFEABILITY-a must for all humans

I never used the clips I had with my RC3 either. I didn't know what they were for so I left them in the bag. BTW I traded my RC3 off last week. The guy who wanted it wanted it bad and gave me an izula and a bunch of other knives and stuff. So, now I have all that stuff but have to get a new RC3.

Hey congrats on the RC-4 I finally ordered my plain blade DT today along with another Izula DT.

If anyone wants to get rid of their molle loks, I could use a few extras for some I traded into that didn't come with.

Molle back makes for a nice belt sheath setup, you can grab a steel clip for the rc5 and redrill it. I'm running mine on the clip now. Going to get a second and molle back it, and find some way to carry a firekit on it.

Whatever you choose, enjoy!

Yes you can stop at just one. I plan to stop at one of each model the ESEE makes.;)

I tried that... Got one of each... Now have 3 of one, and two of 2... With desire for more... And there's the machetes comng now...

Thanks for the welcome!

Good to hear that the Molle locks can be used on a leather belt and they're easy to use. I'll see if I have time tonight to reattach them and try it on my leather gun belts that I wear.

Thanks,

Al

might be some confusion. the locks will work with a thin belt, and ride high. I was talking about the molle backing, like this:

And I drilled this out for it as well:

molle locked to my maxped:

a very messy looking molle lock setup. It rides alot nicer than this looks, though I wish my belt was thinner.

I tried it tonight, didn't get to wear it much since I got done just before dinner.

Initial impressions are the same as yours Dizwolf, that it will ride high and dig into my side. Not good. I *assume* that the optional sheath is available at the esee.com site? NM, I see it for $20 --- sigh---

I'll use it as-is for now and go to Plan B only if necessary, maybe the Molle doohickeys will grow on me, like I'm sure the knife will.

Thanks,

Al

the fours sheath will also take the locks sideways, and you can wear it cross draw at 11, or ranger style at six. It may seem a nit frustrating now all the options, but it's really just a very versitle sheath system, and takes a nit of time to find your own style. Don't forget you can make paracord loops and go iwb :)
