Also my first post in Bladeforums.

Just got my first RAT. My wonderful girlfriend gave it to me for an early Christmas present. I have wanted one for a long time and she takes well to hints, like a picture of the knife I want on the desktop background and emails with links to the best priced websites I could find...LOL

I have played around with all the sheath options, so far this is my favorite way to carry. I don't plan to EDC this knife but do want it on my belt when i plan to carry it. I see that some people use the molle clips and

Also digging the Kershaw Leek you go there.

Welcome to the RAT family! :D

Personally, I use either the belt clip or the paracord lashed to my belt. I would like the TekLoc, but it doesn't fit on my 5.11 belt, the belt is too wide. The nice thing about the belt clip is that it's easy to take it off if the need arises, or to move it into a pocket or somewhere else on your gear without taking your belt off.

Thanks I think picture less threads are boring.
Besides my recent score on a LM Wave these are my only 2 "Real Knives". The leek works great for my day to day needs. But I am absolutely in love with my rc3. Ive wanted one for a long time and thought it was a good knife. But now that I've got it in my hand I KNOw it is a good knife. I see how you guys all get hooked on RAT knives.

I think ill give the para cord method a try. Maybe pick up a set of MOLLE locks. Cause if I was a really good boy this year there might be a Maxped Lunada under the tre too.

I carry my 3 a variety of ways. I've got a sheath locked to my Jumbo, rides very nicely that way. I've got another sheath setup to carry very similar to yours. Looks like you've got it threaded through the molle strap, I lift up the velcro fold-over bit and put my belt there. Both ways work just as well. Some days I'll paracord the whole molle deal to a shoulder strap and use the elastic over the pommel. Right at this moment, I've been EDCing it with the clip. It can be pocketed quickly, ride on the pocket, go IWB, in belt, very easy to carry setup like this. and for $16, it's not too hard to keep a few extra sheaths around.

Congrats on your new RC-3! There are a few ways to carry it with the standard sheath. The paracord works pretty good for a belt carry. Welcome aboard.

Welcome!

I carry the Izula in the max bag unless I'm in the woods, then it's a necker. Otherwise, I've got my RC6 in a specops small sheath. Shotty made me a kydex sheath for the RC3 which is the bomb. It's carried on the belt with a paracord lacing.

I carry my rat 3 in plastic sheath with a boot clip on my belt, my rc 4 in a ksf leather sheath

rc 6 is clipped to a daypack

izula on the belt with a large tek-lok. have not decided how to carry the rc4 yet,
but you've got to love the idea of having so many options.

I've been carrying my RP knife that way. I am surprised at how well it carries like that.

Look closer :). Yea, it's just about the perfect way to carry it I think. The ability to move it around with ease, yet not worry about it falling off is why I like it. I'm suprised at how well it drops into a pocket too. Figured it'd be too big, but it's just about perfect

RC3 waist carry with the clip; Izula under left arm in a fig eight gutted paracord sling; Izula neck. all depends on what I am doing.

I'm with Wildmike on this one. I carry my rc4 horizontal near the small of my back. I have been carrying my Izula around the neck but I am starting to consider some other options . . . .

Thanks guys for all the comments. I didn't care for the paracord lashing seemed kinda loose, maybe I did it wrong.

All you guys that carry Horizontally on the belt, what do you use to secure it? Any pictures of a RC3 horizontal on the belt?

When I weave paracord I always make sure the weave is even, then I tighten it using a modified thin tipped nail punch like these:

Afterward I always use a lighter and the backside of the nail punch to fuse the tip of the cord to the weave and then shore everything up with some super glue...never had a loose weave or a failure.

As a matter of fact I just restrung my wife's old dry rotted Sherpa snow shoes with 550 cord and they may hold up better than the original synthetic cord the factory used. There are a ton of tutorials and sources for weaving 550 cord online and there are guys far more skilled than I on this board that could prob help you tighten things up.

Thanks captain Spaulding, I must really be doing it wrong if you go through that much of a proceCs. When I tried the paracord method I did it as pictured in the instructions that came with the knife, a short piece of cord and a cord lock. How do you do yours? Or are we talking about two different things?
