My first regrind

I don't have a lot of production knives. But there was one that I'd saved despite the fact that it was such a cheap thing.
The Mechanism is smooth smooth smooth and solid though. Which is probably why I kept a hold of it.

But I hated the way it cut. The grind was especially thick and although I'd given it a nice mirror polish it just didn't work the way that I expect from my own knives.

So today I thought:"What the Hell, I've only got around $20 into this thing. Let's see if I can fix it"
So I gave it a regrind.
Here's what it looked like at first:

Got the thumbstud off (was screwed on luckily) and started grinding, 40, then 80 then 120 grit followed by Trizact 65 and then 45.
Finish up with the Yellow Coticule stone and a quick strop and it shaves nicely.

And personally I prefer the way it looks now too.

Great job for your first man!! Way to go! doesn't it cut like a light saber now ;D

Ooh nice job you are giving me ideas! I have the same knife as a beater though so wondering whether a regrind would make it able to take less rough use.

Hey man, nice work. I like your other work too. I believe my buddy Florian (VilePossum) bought one of your knives recently. I'm looking forward to his thoughts. :)

The grind looks leaps and bounds better with those scales. It looks very organic. Nice work.

Got a buffer today. Messed around with that knife by way if experiment.

It's pretty cool if I do say so myself.uploadfromtaptalk1433018834488.jpg
