I started working on this knife this morn I did not like the handle that was on it so I took it off and replaced it with some stag. iI posted some pics the first on is before I started and then after that you can see what I did. Please give me some input on how it looks. This is the first time I tried something like this and do not know if the handle is to long. Thanks for any input. John

Nice work, there.

I don't have much experience with handles like that. I guess I would ask, how big are your hands? :p

It does look a little long, I guess I would be worried that it would stick out of the top of a sheath too much. As with most fixed blades, you want the right balance between the handle and the blade. But most important, you want it to feel comfortable and snug in your grip. I would think that would feel weird with the pommel/butt so far back, and it looks to give your hand too much slide room.

But hey, what the heck do I know. It's a nice looking piece, John.

I have fairly larg hands but there is some excess handle. I like the handle longer because it is easier to draw and gives me more grips. If I hold the handle twords the back it gives more chopping power for light chopping if needed, and it almosts acts as a push dagger if one would want to use it as such. I have never had a fixed blade with such a long handle, but I thought I would give it a try this is the first one I have tried and I myself do not know a lot about rehandleing a knife. It does feel pretty solid and I am happy with the way it turned out. Thanks for your input, and if you have any suggestions on another handle for a blade I will be rehandleing please let me know. It will be a Benchmade bali blade, which the handles broke off a long time ago and just got around to where I can work in my shop. Thanks John

John,

Thanks for the pics. I would have to say that you got that pretty darn right on.

See, I told you, what the heck do I know...

Again, nice work.
