My first reprofile (RC-3)

Had some down time last night so I got out the wet/dry paper and a mousepad and figured I try my hand at a reprofile. I chose one of my RC-3's as the victim (it needed to be sharpened anyway) and got to work.

The grit progression I used was 400, 600, 800, 1000, 2000, then leather hone with black compound. I took me about an hour. It was my first time trying this though and I think I could do it a little faster next time. I used a sharpy the whole time and still couldn't get the edge perfect but I think it turned out pretty good. It shaves and makes some decent curls on paper.

Thanks for looking!

I do the same to most of my ESEE blades. Not really to reprofile but just to knock the shoulder off. Makes it slice alot easier.

Nice but might I ask why you would convex a esee3?

I understand that but the 3 is so thin to begin with a convex edge would be a waste of geometry.

I like convex edges because, for me, they are easy to maintain, stronger, and they slice better. Not sure what you mean by a waste of geometry.

Convex works well: easy to mantain, retains sharpness for long time and makes for a durable edge. Nice job!
