Hi, I recently got me a knife. Its my first Schrade, and id like to get some idea of how old it is. I have done a bit of surfing on the net, and i thought that posting here may help.

There is no number on the blade, just: SCHRADE U.S.A. 165
As i have seen in the pictures here, most of the knives have a No under the name. The entire knife is just slightly shy of 9 and a half inches. On the handle it has a metal inlay wit OLD TIMER stamped into it. It has a brass guard, and is in great shape.
This may not be enough for one of you experts, but i thought id try, so any body got any idea of how old this is, or if it has collector value to it?

thanks

A picture would help, but from the marking I can say that the knife was made in 1973 or later. Condition and completeness is paramount in obtaining the best price when selling one. Scratches, normal patina, blade loss and chips can greatly reduce the value to collectors. In as-new condition with the proper box, sheath and papers, the 165OT Woodsman pattern of this vintage might bring well over $100 today, more if it is earlier or has some special feature such as a special factory order etch. As a user, without the correct sheath, it might still sell in the range of $50 unless it is really rough.
